- Luigi: "Well, what do you want to do now, Mario?"
- Mario: "Let's go run up that hill!"
- — Mario and Luigi in "Metal Gear Stupid"
The hill is a section of paved road running up a slope.
It was used prominently as a gag early in the series, where characters would run up the hill, with the footage usually sped up. As the series became more plot oriented, the gag was abandoned in Season Two, though it was briefly revisited in Season Three, Season Four, and the film.

They break the fourth wall, with Mario declaring they haven't ran up the hill since Episode 10.
The Movie[]
- "Act 1 Part 1" - After reading Bowser's letter that declares his intention to go to the Real World and bring Mario and Luigi back to the Mushroom Kingdom, they decide to make a Stupid Mario Brothers movie. After running up the hill, Mario and Luigi laugh together and then face the camera with serious looks.
Season Four[]
- "Death is Like A Box of Chocolates" - During the dream sequence, Mario chases after Wario, eventually running up the hill.
Trivia[]
- The sequences are always accompanied by some form of the Star Power fanfare from the Mario video games. From Season 1 to the Movie, the theme was taken from Super Mario 64.
